A question was asked this morning at drill whether we will remain LCFD#1?  The short answer is yes, but it merits some further discussion.  The two fire districts will remain separate legal entities, each will levy their present tax bases, and each will continue to own their own real estate, stations, vehicles, and major equipment.  What I foresee is that we will develop a new name for the combined agency (which will NOT include the word District), and will develop a logo that will include the new name with a new logo, followed by a slogan such as a cooperative venture between then the names of each fire district and their respective logos.  We want to represent that while we retain our separate identities, we also recognize that we are equal partners in the new consolidated agency.  My recommendation to the boards at the next meeting (January 11th) will be that we have some sort of advisory vote from the personnel of both districts on the name of the consolidated agency, and perhaps a contest for the new logo.  But we will not be considering the present district names and associated logos to be obsolete.
